On November 6th, our friends John and Lisa Heycock held the 10th annual Gulliver’s Run in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania and it was another victory in the battle against canine cancer.
With the biggest turn out yet, there were 332 registered participants, up almost 50 from last year. On race day, including runners, walkers, and children in Duncan’s Dash, there were 294 human finishers and 167 dogs! Plus, the Heycock’s friend Kylie and her son Darcy ran to fight canine cancer in their homeland of Australia! There is also a team competition among
some of the staff of local veterinary practices that seems to grow yearly.
Gulliver’s Run is more than just a 5K. It is a family event for dogs and people! With music, food, vendors, pet blessings, and the ever popular Photo Booth, everyone looks forward to Gulliver’s Run! And plans for year #11 are already underway! It is for Gulliver, and Sadie, and Langford, and all of the others that Gulliver’s Run must continue.
Since the start of Gulliver’s Run, the Heycock’s have raised and donated $103,000 to multiple causes fighting canine cancer. John adds, “We are so humbled by realizing this and knowing that our effort together with amazing community support has made this possible.”
Thank you to them and to our ACF table volunteer Craig. This year’s event raised over $13,000 for our comparative oncology research.
