We lost our beloved Tucker on August 7, 2026 at 13 ½ years. He has joined the previous six Hellman-Rothstein standard poodles and now, restored to health, is run-ning with our poodle pack, jumping, rolling in mulch and enjoying himself.

He came to Newtown in 2014 as a foster from Florida Poodle Rescue for an appointment at the Animal Medical Center in NYC for treatment of an esophageal stricture. When he came home he was lovingly nursed back to health by Jane. We then adopted Tucker early in 2015 and a caring bond was created between Jane and Tucker that strengthened through the years.

He was a happy, cheerful boy who loved everyone he met and whose love was reciprocated by all. He was a reading buddy at the Children’s Library at Cyrenius Booth and Southbury Libraries and has been a regular weekly visitor, since 2015, at what is now Stone Bridge on Toddy Hill Road. It was always amazing to see the residents respond to his gentle, loving approach and, in many instances, reach out to pet him and talk to him.

He and Jane earned Alliance of Therapy Dogs certification in 2017 by passing a rigorous interview and test and kept that certification all these years through his regular visits to Stone Bridge and other senior living facilities. He was also Jane’s emotion-al support poodle and so was permitted in town buildings. He had many friends throughout Newtown whom he visited often. He always accompanied Jane to Dental Associates in Newtown and to Monroe Dental Arts and to Newtown Town Hall and was welcomed wherever he went.

His loving demeanor and stately presence will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.
