Sometimes, we are astonished what we can do when we come together as a community of pet parents. In honor of November’s Pet Cancer Awareness Month, Nationwide Pet pledged to donate $5 for every pet photo and story shared on FB, Instagram and Twitter using the #CurePetCancer up to $50,000. Pet parents responded overwhelmingly to the call posting more than 10,000 photos and stories in only 30 days and securing for Animal Cancer Foundation the $50,000 gift that will be used to fund comparative oncology research. Gratitude doesn’t begin to cover how moved we are by everyone’s support, how amazed we still are at how many of our beloved pets are affected by cancer each and every day, and how generous Nationwide Pet’s staff is in working to help us toward the goal. For a decade, Nationwide Pet’s President Scott Liles and Senior Vice President Susan McManus have been dedicated supporters of comparative oncology research, working with Animal Cancer Foundation on public service initiatives for creative infographics, campaigns and events to increase public awareness of pet cancer and to support comparative oncology research through our grant program.
