We’re barking out loud here at Animal Cancer Foundation! For the second year in a row, we have been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Petco Foundation in partnership with Blue Buffalo to support our comparative oncology research awards program. The Petco Foundation and Blue Buffalo investment will help Animal Cancer Foundation to provide a second annual grant in 2016 to a research team studying the overlaps between cancer in people and pets. Last year’s recipient of the additional ACF Comparative Oncology Award, Dr. Kristen Weishaar of Colorado State University’s Flint Animal Cancer Center says, “The grant from [ACF] allows our team to investigate the effects of AF in tumor-bearing dogs to establish a biologically effective dose, which has near-term benefit in the treatment of dogs with lymphoma and is a translational model for human cancer.”
ACF’s Scientific Advisory Council is now in the process of evaluating proposals for funding submitted for 2016.
